THE LITTLE BLUE NOTEBOOK

What happens when memories fade and imagination takes over? Sinagporean pianist Elizabeth Goh searches for the answer in The Little Blue Notebook. In this extraordinary recital, she switches between the “regular” grand piano and little toy pianos. This way, she creates a surprising sound palette, in which fantasy and reality slowly start to blend together.
With compositions by Henry Cowell, Sofia Gubaidulina, George Crumb and Rudolf Escher, she has curated some of the most experimental and thought-provoking pieces from the 20th century. She also commissioned to brand new pieces for this production. Composer Mattias Spee wrote Yellow Eyes; a virtuoso piece, in which he challenges Elizabeth Goh to the limit, pianistically speaking. Apollon Kalamenios wrote a new composition for this production as well; an electronic piece, entitled And So Forth.
Sometimes intimate and fragile, in other moments exciting and unpredictable. Goh mixes music, storytelling and theatrical elements into a concert that takes you away to an idiosyncratic musical universe. The director for this prodcution is Arthur Buchholz.
